This street, located between Rue du Renard and Turbigo Street, is named after the former village of Beau-Bourg. The section between the street Simon-le-Franc and the street-Michel Comte, opened at the end of the eleventh century, then crossed the walls of the city. Convened from several ancient streets, it will be known within the precincts of Philippe Auguste, rue de la Poterne then rue de la Fausse-Poterne. It will focus on street name Oultre-the-Poterne-Nicolas-Hydron outside the prison walls. These two sections are then assembled in 1851 under the name of a street Beaubourg. The section between Mayor Street and rue Michel Le Comte, opened at the beginning of the thirteenth century, was successively called rue de Châlons or Chalon Street Kit-Nonnain Street Trace-whore, street-Tasse Nonnain then Transnonain. The former Mayor passage between the streets and Mayor Bailly, is originally called passage Bailly then crossing the street to the Mayor. The former Saint-Hugues, between the streets and Bailly Réaumur, will be open around 1780. The Order of March 11, 1851 meet the Beaubourg street, the street Transnonain, the passage Mayor and the rue Saint-Hugues.
