On 29 July 1833, to celebrate his accession to the throne at the end of Three Glorieuses, Louis-Philippe laying the foundation stone of a suspension bridge initially anonymous, located in the extension of the Rue du Pont Louis Philippe (who was born the same year). Built by Marc Seguin and his brothers, he crossed the Seine to the dock using the Flowers from the Ile Saint-Louis. It is open to traffic one year later, on 26 July 1834. After the revolution of 1848 when it is burned, it was restored and called the bridge of the Reformation "until 1852.
