From 1185 to 1512, Rue du Renard (which bears the name of an old sign) called rue de la Cour Robert de Paris. Then a road reserved for ribaudes: Louis IX had in fact authorized the presence of women folieuses. It is renowned rue du Regnard fishing (probably because of a sign depicting a fox fishing) in 1512. It takes in 1868 its final form: Rue du Renard, after the merger of two streets. An order of 1836 deciding the enlargement of the street, most of the old buildings were demolished, and mansions rose in their place.
