Cardinal Jean Lemoine (1250-1313) was the legate (ambassador) of Pope Boniface VIII to Philip IV the Fair. He founded, rue Saint-Victor, a college which was destroyed during the Revolution. Died in Avignon in 1313, his body was transported to Paris and was buried, as he had testified desire, in the church of college he had founded. The street that bears the name is a section of the old path outside along the walls of Philippe-Auguste.
