The station is named after the Gare du Nord station network SNCF below which it is located. In 2004, this station was the most popular of the Paris metro, with 36.24 million direct entrants. Following the extension of the line 5 to Church of Pantin October 12, 1942, the loop of the former terminus of the line, located at the Gare du Nord station, was removed from passenger service and now serves as a means of instruction for staff. The docks line 4 still have a cloister with elevated steel IPM, and were until mid 60 of 75m long.
