The station has changed its name several times: Carrefour Marcadet in 1911. Marcadet - Balagny in 1912. Balagny was mayor of Monceau-Batignolles in the nineteenth century. Finally: Guy Môquet January 27, 1946 when the street Balagny was named in tribute to a young french communist activist, shot by the Nazis at the age of seventeen years.
