Oberkampf
It owes its name to the rue Oberkampf it serves and whose name is due to Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf (1738-1815), born in Germany of a family of dyers. He was famous in 1759 by founding the first manufacture of printed fabrics with engraved copper plates. This factory was located in Jouy-en-Josas (today in the Yvelines) near Versailles, which explains the name of de Jouy. You can find a beautiful exhibition of paintings at the museum in Jouy-en-Josas.
