The station Place Monge was inaugurated on February 15, 1930, when extending the line to 10 instead of Italy. A year later, it was incorporated into line 7. Place Monge owes its name to Gaspard Monge (1746-1818) french mathematician, which allowed the construction of the Superior Normal School and founded the Polytechnic. The station is located in the middle of the fifth arrondissement of Paris, and has two exits, one with escalator. The Jardin des Plantes is located nearby, and the district of the Rue Mouffetard.
