The station was inaugurated on December 13, 1900. Line 2 would then only until the station Star, now Charles De Gaulle - Star. The station serves including the prestigious Paris-Dauphine University, founded in 1968. Porte Dauphine is also famous for one of its entries created by Hector Guimard (the one overlooking the Place des General of Trentinian - later accompanied the Avenue Foch). It should be noted that the station Porte Dauphine is one of the last to have preserved: - Its original configuration racket, namely two half-stations divergent around a loop turning very tight, thirty metres radius only, - The decoration of origin, colour tiles dishes crême: it is part of the decorations experimental tested in 1900 before being chosen, thereafter, the famous white tile edge.
