Temple
The opening of the station Temple dated 19 October 1904, with commissioning of the first section of Line 3 between Avenue de Villiers (today Villiers) and Pere Lachaise.
The name of the station refers to a former Templar building, destroyed in 1811, located on the site of the current mayor of the 3rd arrondissement.
Temple is the only name shared by stations in London and Paris. The Temple subway station in London is on the Circle and District lines, between Blackfriars and Embankment stations. Like its namesake Paris, it takes its name from the Templars.
